Software Update

The Current Release Version is 2.27. To view your current software version, select the Update button from the System Config Screen. Version 2.27 was released on June 21, 2009. It is available for download by requesting the update file below:

Update Process

  1. Download the most recent version of the software and save it to your computer.

  2. Connect USB Drive to your computer.

    3. USB DRIVE REQUIREMENTS: In order to successfully complete the update process, the USB drive MUST BE at least 256MB in size and MUST NOT contain any existing data. Please note that some "smart" USB drives with pre-installed software applications may not be compatible.

  3. Extract the update package to the folder called "edtds-update". This folder should be located in the root directory of the USB Drive. If you have not updated your software previously, you will need to create this folder.

  4. Insert the USB drive to the USB port on the back of the Digital Shredder™ and navigate to the Software Update Screen by selecting Update from the System Config Screen. Be sure that all drive bays are empty before inserting the USB drive. Upon insertion, the new version of the software (as well as any older versions stored on the drive) should be displayed (note that the "UPDATE" option is only enabled when a valid update version is present on the USB drive). Highlight the version to be installed and select the "UPDATE" option to begin the update procedure.

  5. After the Digital Shredder has installed the software from the USB drive, the device will reboot in order to complete the update process.
